Fallen Angel, JENNIE‘s latest solo release, tops this week’s new music poll.
Listeners voted in a poll published Friday (Aug. 28) on Billboard, choosing the BLACKPINK star’s new EP as their favorite new music.
Fallen Angel rose above a number of new releases this week — from music acts including Olivia Rodrigo, Ky-Mani Marley, Alex Warren, Alabama Shakes and more. At the poll’s closing time on Sunday, JENNIE’s new EP came out on top with more than 82% of the vote.
Fallen Angel is JENNIE’s first solo collection since last year’s full-length solo debut (Ruby). Led by the single “Less Than a Lover,” the EP arrives via ODDATELIER and Columbia Records.
The Fallen Angel rollout continued Friday (Aug. 28) with the acoustic-pop leaning “Fallen Angel” (alongside a dark and dreamy music video, seen above). “Less Than a Lover” and “Fallen Angel” were released as a digital EP with a third new song, “Heaven,” on streaming services the same day.
The title track has JENNIE singing, “Hey, can’t you stay?/ Don’t leave a fallen angel out here on her own/ Find a place/ Wherever we land is where we turn into a home.”

A physical CD release, which can be preordered from JENNIE’s webstore, features three additional new songs that are not available on streaming: “Sweettooth,” “Lockitdown” and “Face” round out the tracklist, making it a six-song EP. CD orders are currently expected to ship on Oct. 30.

For seven straight decades, from the 1960s on through the 2020s, the late Dolly Parton charted an iconic string of 50 albums on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart during her lifetime — including 15 top 40-charted sets. Following her passing on Aug. 25, Parton racked up a 16th top 40 set with Ultimate Dolly Parton.
From her debut with Porter Wagoner on Just the Two of Us in 1969, on through her most recent studio album to debut, 2023’s Rockstar, the singer-songwriter left a remarkable impression on Billboard’s signature album chart.

Parton notched four early albums on the Billboard 200 with her former TV co-star and duet partner Wagoner in 1969-71. She charted her first solo entry also in 1969, with My Blue Ridge Mountain Boy.
Parton would not reach the top 40 of the all-genre Billboard 200 albums chart until 1978, when Here You Come Again climbed to a No. 20 peak off the strength of its smash title track. The single sailed to No. 3 on the overall Billboard Hot 100 songs chart, and marked her first of eight top 40 hits on the ranking.
After the Here You Come Again album, Parton would hit the top 40 again in short order with Heartbreaker (No. 27 in 1978), Great Balls of Fire (No. 40 in 1979) and 9 to 5 and Odd Jobs (No. 11 in 1981). The latter boasted her first Hot 100 No. 1 in “9 to 5,” which also scored Parton her first Academy Award nomination, for best original song (from the film of the same name, in which Parton co-starred with Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin).
Parton would hit the top 40 of the Billboard 200 again in late 1984 with her holiday album Once Upon a Christmas, with Kenny Rogers. Just a year before, the pair teamed up on Parton’s second Hot 100 No. 1, “Islands in the Stream.”
In 1987, Parton joined Linda Ronstadt and Emmylou Harris for the successful Trio album, which reached No. 6 on the Billboard 200 and granted Parton her first top 10 on the chart. Trio would garner Parton her first, and so far only, Grammy Award nomination for album of the year.
In the 1990s, Parton notched two more top 40 albums on the Billboard 200 with Eagle When She Flies (No. 24 in 1991) and Slow Dancing With the Moon (No. 16 in 1993). In the 2000s, she brought Backwoods Barbie to the top 40, hitting No. 17 in 2009.
In 2014, Parton achieved her first top 10 on the Billboard 200 unaccompanied by any other acts, as Blue Smoke debuted and peaked at No. 6. She followed it with another top 40 album two years later, Pure & Simple, which hit No. 11.
In the 2020s, Parton has claimed four new top 40-charted albums — more than in any other decade. In 2020, she reached No. 16 with A Holly Dolly Christmas and followed it with Run, Rose, Run (No. 34 in 2022) and the best-of compilation Diamonds & Rhinestones: The Greatest Hits Collection (No. 27 in 2022).
In 2023, Parton claimed her highest charting Billboard 200 album ever, as the all-star collabrations project Rockstar debuted and peaked at No. 3.
The Rockstar project was promoted as Parton’s first rock album, and its recording was sparked by Parton’s induction to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2022. Through her career, Parton primarily recorded country music, but took detours (via albums and songs) into such genres as Americana/folk, bluegrass, children’s music, Christian, dance/electronic and pop.
The 30-song Rockstar album mixed covers and original tunes and included guests such as Pat Benatar, Miley Cyrus, Melissa Etheridge, Joan Jett and The Blackhearts, Elton John, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Paul McCartney, Stevie Nicks, Chris Stapleton, Ringo Starr, Sting and Steven Tyler.
In the wake of her death, Parton collected a fourth top 10 — and her second-highest-charted album ever — on the Billboard 200 with her 2003 best-of compilation Ultimate Dolly Parton, when it reentered at No. 5 on the Sept. 5, 2026-dated chart.
It was scorching, and nearly every artist commented on the intense heat — from Rachel Chinouriri stating, “it’s f—ing hot, Jesus…the U.K. ain’t like this” during her 12:30 p.m. set to Chappell Roan introducing her hit “HOT TO GO!” near the end of her 7 p.m. by saying, “this next song is very fitting, I feel.” Bikini Kill’s Kathleen Hanna, Mitski and Doechii were among those who reminded fans to hydrate – with Hanna herself taking long sips from her reusable bottle boasting an “f–k ice” sticker.
Such was the ethos of the day: Stand for something, and look out for one another.
It was just two months ago that Olivia Rodrigo announced Daisy Chain Fields, her very own music festival, along with its Daisy Chain Fields Fund. “Truly never felt more excited to share a piece of news with you all,” Rodrigo wrote on Instagram at the time. “I’ve had a dream of doing this festival for years and I am so ecstatic it’s finally coming true!!”
Today, Saturday (Aug. 29), fans felt firsthand how Daisy Chain Fields was always meant so much more than just a festival — and in fact, it could even change how such events operate going forward. Boasting an all-women lineup of Olivia’s “heroes and friends,” and with 100% of the net proceeds going to charities dedicated to advancing and advocating for women and girls, Rodrigo created something much greater than a day of music: She amplified a mission and supercharged a movement.
The day before fans flocked to Irvine, Calif. for the one-day festival (on Friday, Aug. 28), Rodrigo held a press conference to share a sizeable piece of news: Ticket sales alone brought in $10 million for the fest’s 10 nonprofit partners. (Partners include Baby2Baby, Black Mamas Matter Alliance, Center for Reproductive Rights, FreeFrom, Jhpiego, Johns Hopkins Center for Indigenous Health, National Domestic Workers Alliance, National Institute for Reproductive Health, National Women’s Law Center and Planned Parenthood.)
While speaking at the presser, Rodrigo also name-checked the iconic Lilith Fair tour, saying its founder, Sarah McLachlan, was one of the first people she called while in the early stages of making her dream a reality. Tonight, to cap off her own historic first fest, Rodrigo welcomed McLachlan – along with Alanis Morissette and Stevie Nicks – on stage during her stellar headlining set.
Prior to performing, Rodrigo welcomed Melinda French Gates to the stage to announce the philanthropist had doubled the $10 million in funds raised – bringing Daisy Chain Fields’ total donation amount to $20 million.
In Rodrigo’s same Instagram caption from two months ago, she had ended it by saying: “I firmly believe that joy, community and music can be the drivers of meaningful change and I’m hopeful this festival will be just that.”
In its first year, it already was. And thankfully, as Rodrigo revealed at the end of her set, it will continue to be. As she enthusiastically declared, “see you next year!”

Olivia Rodrigo turned a last-minute lineup shakeup into one of the defining moments of her inaugural Daisy Chain Fields festival on Saturday (Aug. 29), calling Alanis Morissette to the stage after Yeah Yeah Yeahs frontwoman Karen O pulled out of the all-women event at Great Park in Irvine, Calif.
Rodrigo delivered the news of the cancellation to the crowd herself, framing it gently before revealing the silver lining.
“The bad news is Karen O is not able to make it tonight, she was one of the first people who said yes to Daisy Chain but she has a personal matter that requires her to be elsewhere,” Rodrigo said.
The good news walked out moments later. Rodrigo welcomed Morissette as the fill-in, and the two launched into “Ironic,” the enduring single from Morissette’s 1995 landmark Jagged Little Pill. Then came the twist worth talking about: partway through, they reworked the song’s most-quoted scenario, flipping its “beautiful wife” to a “beautiful husband” — a small rewrite with a pointed wink at a festival built on an all-women, queer-inclusive bill that also features Chappell Roan and Doechii.
The duet doubled as a full-circle moment for Rodrigo, who has long named Jagged Little Pill as a cornerstone of her own songwriting. She inducted Morissette into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2022, and the pair previously shared a stage on Rodrigo’s Sour tour, trading verses on “You Oughta Know” in Los Angeles.
Rodrigo staged Daisy Chain Fields at a career high. Her third album, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love, debuted atop the Billboard 200 in June with 485,000 equivalent album units — the biggest week of her career and the largest week of 2026 for any solo artist. Lead single “drop dead” bowed at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, her fourth chart-topping debut. With the release, she became just the second artist ever, after Beyoncé, to send each of her first three studio albums to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 while landing at least one Hot 100 leader from each.
The one-day festival, which raised $10 million for nonprofits supporting women and girls, arrives just weeks before Rodrigo launches her Unraveled Tour.
Harry Styles gave a cheeky nod to ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift’s wedding during night three of his Madison Square Garden residency on Saturday (Aug. 29).
Toward the end of the set, he hyped up the venue’s recent history before pivoting to the joke: “We’re at Madison Square Garden, home of the world champion New York Knicks!” he told the crowd, before adding, “And they also do weddings.” The line, referencing Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce‘s July 3 wedding at the arena, drew loud cheers.
Styles and Swift dated from November 2012 to January 2013, a relationship widely understood to have inspired Swift’s 2014 hit “Style.” He reportedly received an invitation to the Swift-Kelce wedding but didn’t attend; sources told Variety at the time he was “currently on tour and will not make it to MSG.”
His fiancée, Zoë Kravitz, went to the ceremony without him. Styles was performing the London leg of his own Together, Together tour that same night, and fan footage from the July 3 Wembley show captured him singing 2017 track “Two Ghosts” — long rumored to be his response to “Style” — including the lines “Same lips red, same eyes blue / Same white shirt, couple more tattoos.”
The joke landed three days into a residency already drawing outsized attention. Styles’ 30-show MSG run — which makes up the entirety of his 2026 U.S. tour dates and continues through Halloween — opened Aug. 26 to 11.5 million presale ticket registrations in January, which Ticketmaster called the highest volume ever recorded for an artist presale.
It’s Styles’ first run of live shows since 2023, in support of his new album Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally, released in March.
Opening night carried its own emotional weight. Styles completely overhauled his usual setlist — a departure from the largely unchanged show he’d played across 33 prior tour dates — and paused late in the set to honor Dolly Parton, who had died the day before.
“I just wanna give a proper thank you to all the musicians who have inspired me over the years,” he told the crowd. “Dolly, we love you. Thank you so much.” Her 1974 recording of “I Will Always Love You” then played over the PA as the crowd sang along, with Zoë Kravitz, Gayle King and Drew Barrymore among those in attendance. Styles closed that show with “Sign of the Times” and set-closer “Aperture.”

Three of the group’s current active members — Yoonchae, Lara and Megan, who sustained an ankle injury during rehearsal that led to KATSEYE pulling out of performing this weekend — unexpectedly showed up on stage Saturday (Aug. 29) just before Devon Again, the act booked to fill in for what would’ve been KATSEYE’s time slot. The trio said they were honored to introduce nonprofit Baby2Baby, an organization that provides children in poverty with diapers, clothing and other necessities, ahead of Devon Again’s performance.
Addressing their last-minute exit from the lineup, Megan expressed, “We’re so disappointed that we can’t perform today on stage, but my ankle is on hiatus.”
“But our hearts are definitely not,” she added. “We’re sending all of our love to Olivia and this beautiful community that she built at Daisy Chain Fields. We’re so happy to be here and show as much support as we can. We love you, Olivia. Thank you for letting us be a small part of this.” (Check out a video clip that was captured of the moment here.)
KATSEYE announced on Thursday that Megan had sprained her ankle, and that they’d no longer be performing at Rodrigo’s inaugural charity festival.
“My doctors have advised me to stay off it and let it heal so I can be ready for tour,” Megan said on Friday.
KATSEYE’s scheduled appearance at the Irvine, Calif., music festival curated by Rodrigo came just after the group earned its first No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with the EP WILD.
KATSEYE’s active lineup presently consists of Yoonchae, Lara, Megan and Daniela, who wasn’t seen on stage Saturday. Fellow members Manon and Sophia are on hiatus, with Manon focusing on her wellness and Sophia focusing on her mental health.
On Friday, Rodrigo announced that ticket sales for Saturday’s day-long music event had brought in $10 million that will go directly to 10 nonprofit organizations supporting women: Planned Parenthood, Center for Reproductive Rights, Baby2Baby, Black Mamas Matter Alliance, FreeFrom, Jhpiego, Johns Hopkins Center for Indigenous Health, National Domestic Workers Alliance, National Institute for Reproductive Health and National Women’s Law Center.
